Rue Sherbrooke Est

At the far eastern end of Sherbrooke St., on either side of this main urban artery, the City of Montreal, owner of development properties, has commissioned a master plan for the area.

Projet Paysage was mandated to proceed with a landscape analysis of these properties that include a wildlife reserve (Ruisseau de Montigny) and a few isolated wetlands. The master plan developed by our firm includes an urban development that takes full advantage of these sites by featuring the river and by highlighting and conserving the natural ecological value of the area.

The design concept consists of connecting the various isolated wetlands and increasing their water volume by redirecting the surface water runoff towards this newly created creek. The proposed building density (four to eight floors high), laid out around this meandering creek and open green areas, frees up enough space to preserve this habitat and is appropriate in size for the urban fabric of the east end of Sherbrooke St.
