As landscape architects, the nature spa is considered a getaway experience where clients can temporarily retreat from reality. At Le Scandinave Spa in Mont-Tremblant, the main goal was to create the kind of atmosphere that leads visitors well away from his or her everyday preoccupations.
In this rugged and rocky environment typical of the Laurentians, the project adopts an authentic approach where close proximity to water – river, waterfalls, or lake – is a predominate element. From the entrance area, water falls subtly from a fountain and cascades all the way down. Positioned around this emerging “river”, at various and well chosen heights, the spa’s pavilions are constructed in order to create a succession of spa gardens that are hidden from one another. Filled with the sound of cascading water blocking out all surrounding noises, this design incorporates a variety of well framed views that are positioned within the project
